Jennifer Roberson is the widow of former QuadrigaCX CEO Gerald Cotten. They married on October ?, 2018. Little is publicly known about the couples relationship before their marriage. Robertson was the only person known to be with Cotten in Jaipur, India at the time of his alleged death.
In an affidavit to the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, Robertson states: “I was not involved in the business of [QuadrigaCX] while Gerry was alive”. 1) However, customers have proven they received deposits from Robertsons real estate company, Robertson Nova Property Management. One user received three deposits from Robertson Nova in late 2016 and early 2017, and another user received an Interac e-transfer from “RNC Inc.” in March 2017 with an email address attached to the name Jennifer K.M. Robertson. 2)
At the end of January, 2019, Robertson took Gerald Cottens name from the ownership of four Nova Scotia properties, then took out collateral mortgages on all four in favour of a trust (referred to as the “seaglass trust”) of which Robertson is a trustee, and finally transferred ownership of at least two of those properties to that trust. Daren Baxter, a partner at McInnes Cooper in Halifax who focuses on trust and estate planning, said taking out a mortgage in favour of a trust is a technique sometimes used to protect those assets from future creditors. 3)
Government records reveal that Robertson has used three family names. Deeds for properties she bought in 2016 show she was once known as Jennifer Forgeron. On Dec. 1, 2016, Nova Scotia's Royal Gazette announced she was changing her name from Jennifer Kathleen Margaret Griffith to her current name, Jennifer Kathleen Margaret Robertson.4) 5)
